U2 recently performed a two-song gig at Cannes (yes, on the famous red carpet). Playing "Vertigo" and "Where the Streets Have No Name", the mini-gig served both as a treat for the U2 fans (including actors) at the festival and as a promotion for U2 3D, a 3D film of their South American concerts.
Yes, U2's South American concerts (some of the best in the tour, according to fans) are now on film, and they're on 3D.
Directed by Catherine OWens, the band's visualist, U2 3D is already being touted as a "landmark film". According to those who've seen it, at one point of the film, "U2's lead singer Bono reaches out towards the 3D camera and looks as if he is about to step into the cinema."
It is the "first live-action, multi-camera digital 3-D feature"--- and feck if I don't get to see this.
The SM Mall of Asia, the only mall in the country with an iMax theater, better step up and make sure that U2 3D in the country. There's a BIG chance that I'll never be able to watch the goup perform live, this is the next best thing to seeing them in concert. Henry Sy (the owner of Mall of Asia) will pay dearly if they don't carry this---I vow never to step inside any of his malls again if they choose some stupid animated movie instead of U2 3D. Are we clear, Mr. Sy? Show U2 3D or you'll lose one food-loving, impulse-buying SM regular.
So, think I should write them now and start pestering them about showing the movie here?
