U2 3D to launch in January

Good news for U2 fans and your average drool-over-anything-new-and-high-tech geeks! U2 3D, the first, U2.com says, "live action movie ever shot, produced, and exhibited in digital 3-D" is opening soon!

According to the band's web site, National Geographic (I don't know how they are connected) has confirmed that the movie will "open worldwide in late January" in both digital 3D and iMax theaters.

The film, which premiered in the Cannes Film Festival, has received great reviews from 3D aficionados and ordinary music fans who don't know crap about the technology *ehem* alike. (The feedback from "fans, critics and the industry" says director Catherine Owens, "was phenomenal".)

The director says that the film will make people feel like they were actually at the concert. Wow. *Drool*.

I just hope when National Geographic says "worldwide", they also mean the Philippines (hey, the Third World is still part of the world, you know).

It's sad, but this, after all, could be the closest I could get seeing U2 in concert (dear God, I hope this is not the case).
