There's this upcoming NU-sponsored U2 event dubbed, U2: the NU Declaration. It's to be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009. According to the press release, the event is:
"a legendary gathering of the biggest names in the rock industry — the band members, the influencers and top honchos of rock groups. All of them will come together in a night of music and drinking, all in honor of the rocking foursome in the persona of Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam — U2!"
The event---which is, if what I gathered from the radio ad is correct, to be attended by U2-influenced Filipino musicians such as Ebe Dancel of Sugarfree, Francis Reyes of the Dawn, Diego Castillo of Sandwich and Raimund Marasigan of [insert the name of your favorite band which has Raimund Marasigan as a member here]--- is an homage to the greatest band in the world.
Aside from Pinoy "rock royalty" (and I hesitate to use that phrase because apparently, Six Cycle Mind will also be there), NU is also inviitng all U2 fans in the country to attend the event and, well, declare their love for U2 by bringing any and every U2-related item they have. Doing so would not only allow them to party in the name of U2, but also give them a chance to win exclusive "imported u2 items".
Personally, I am DYING to go to this shindig (wow, so Austin Powers). The only problem is, the person I usually go to this type of event with, Dhorj, is, uhm, well, has been and will be busy for the next few months. And since I have low self-esteem and I cannot go anywhere alone, only one of the two is bound to happen:
(a) I will just stay home and re-watch Super Bad; or
(b) I will be able drag someone ---anyone---to the event and live happily ever after.
Of the two options, I am praying hard that it's the second one that will materialize not only so I could win those promised U2 stuff and add them to my growing collection of U2 items, but more importantly because, in a Third World country dominated by jumping emo kids; pa-conio college students/yuppies who are still praying that the Rihanna-Chris Brown incident is just a bad dream; and people who keep on inviting the Cascades, the Platters and the Lettermen to have hold concerts here, there are not much fun activities like this for us U2 fans to enjoy here.
Hayyyyyyyyyyyyyy....
